A blog to share topics and ideas for Catholic girls of all ages. Most topics are geared towards teens and young adults. Participate in the Challenge of the Month, read chapters from Girls, You're Important by Fr. Siekmann, browse the Poems and Prayers to uplift your spirits, or find a Pleasant Pastime to occupy yourself. I would love to hear suggestions of other content you would like to see!
It all started out as a newsletter taped together, scanned and printed by my older sister, who wanted to share 'cool things' she found with her friends. 10 years and a few editors later we had a large email subscription that far surpassed our mailing subscription so I decided to turn it into a blog, and here we are!
To be a source of joy, advice, and inspiration. Teenagers in particular have always been my favorite people and creating a place to share things I wish I had when I was a teenager is one of the most fulfilling things to do. We seem to easily get surrounded with negativity so I am here to be the opposite. If I can help you be a happier, better person, then I have begun to change the world and so will you!
Welcome, I am so glad you found my blog! My name is Therese Harrity and I am currently a stay - at - home mom of a one year old boy and have been very happily married 3 years. My days are spent chasing my little dude around the house, cooking, cleaning, volunteering at the local church and school, sewing, spending time with family, and writing this blog (with a few other random things like running a girls camp or directing plays thrown in here and there).
I grew up on a farm in Minnesota as the 3rd oldest of a growing family which would reach a total of 15 children. My biggest highlights in life were going to girls’ camp and eventually learning things in school. It wasn’t until 5th grade that I learned to love school but that love of learning has been with me since and served me well when I went to the Dominican boarding school in Post Falls, Idaho when I was nearly 14. I graduated there with honors and headed to help teach in the other Dominican school in New York. I had grand adventures there teaching anything from 7th grade science to 9th grade Greek. That year my closest sister, Beth died at the age of 19. It was hard, real hard. We had planned and discussed all sorts of things that we would do together in our future and all of a sudden she was gone.
The following year I decided to pursue my education at a traditional Catholic college in Texas, Fisher-More college. I got an excellent scholarship and loved my time there, however that year was the last for the college, they closed down and I headed back to MN to take a teaching position in our SSPX school. By this point I was confident that I wanted to be a teacher in life even though I had always thought that a teacher is just a lame job and I wanted to make a REAL difference in the world with a MEANINGFUL job (I quickly learned there are few jobs as meaningful as that of a teacher). So I threw myself whole-heartedly into my new job and boy were those the best days of my life! I taught for the next 8 years and started and completed an online degree for Mathematics education. In between I had all sorts of adventures but this is quickly becoming a non-quick biography :P
In December of 2020 I married Henry Harrity and moved to Texas where his job and family are, changing my name from Therese Gerads to Therese Harrity and we plan to live happily ever after. August 2022 brought us our son, officially making us a family! Life is full and BEAUTIFUL!
You are welcome to keep coming back here to see new content. However, a better option is to subscribe to my newsletter! You will get updates on new posts and special content that is only available to my subscribers.
